Welcome to the Degrees of Separation Challenge, the funniest and most creative challenge of the year! We'll open 2017 watching all kind of films while trying to connect them.

General rules
- The challenge runs from January 1st to January 31st 2017 (use your local time).
- Films can be on any official/unofficial list, or none at all.
- Rewatches are allowed.
- Each film you watch must have some connection to the film you watched just before it. You don't need to use the same type of connection between films all the time, there are many ways to connect them: same actor, same director, same year, same theme, same list on ICM, same song, same locations, same word in title, etc. Use your imagination.
- Appropriately enough for these days, the starting point for everybody will be GREMLINS. You don't have to watch it but the first film you watch must have a connection to it.
- When posting the films you've watched add the connection to the previous one. For example:

Previous connections

Scoring rules
- A feature film (anything over 45 minutes) counts as one entry.
- A total of 60 minutes of short films (anything up to 45 minutes) count as one entry.
- The same runtime rules apply for mini-series episodes.

Reference
If you're short on ideas, take a look at how other people connected films in previous editions of this challenge: 2015, 2013 and 2011.

I'm in. It's my favorite challenge.

I'll do the same as the other times I did this challenge, connect through actors/actresses.

Can't believe I thought this up 5.5 years ago and I don't think I've done it since! Might give it a go. It's just finding the time these days! Might try and throw in a few sci-fi's as well :)

Rick Mayall was very obnoxious in this. I know that is intentional, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Fun movie, although a bit too heavy on the CGI. Dan Fogler as Kowalski was by far my favorite character in this.

03. Classe tous risques (Sautet, 1960)

He's billed as Aime le March in the earlier film, but it's definitely the same guy. Really good criminal-on-the-run film.

Yes, it was pretty great. Ana Torrent is a great actress. I did get distracted while watching it, though. I did the dishes. I was hungover from yesterday, so I took a 2 hour nap in the middle of it. It wasn't because it was boring, though. Ultimately, it wasn't a masterpiece. It evoked Les Dimanches de Ville d'Avray at times, but of course, was completely different. Overall,

So I'm trying to get connections by people only, I may see how far back I can get in years.

1. Passengers (2016) - 7/10 - this had a digital compositor called Jack Dunn who was also the digital compositor in:

2. Under Sandet (2015) - 8/10

Really enjoyed the tension in this film - recommended watching.

I did it in 2012 (I think) when the starting point was Lawrence of Arabia. I worked around to Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, so the last connection was title characters named Lawrence. Here are the movies I watched for that challenge (of course I saved it)
