Greetings, Allison!

Great idea for a challenge. Count me in, for sure. Suddenly looking forward that bit more to the month ahead!

I think I'll arrange the feature films I view in weekly sections and put together a separate area further down my post for short films. I have notions about completing little sections on Baltic women film-makers, experimental women directors, female animators (and some others) but I'll see how things play out.

'Bienvenue en Suisse' / 'Welcome to Switzerland' (2004, Léa Fazer) - 5/10 (FTV)
'Les déferlantes' / 'The Breakers' (2013, Éléonore Faucher) - 6 or 6.5/10 (FTV)

I don't plan to seek thiings out for this challenge but happened to watch this:

1. Queen of Katwe (16) - Mira Nair

Films about unlikely chess prodigies seem to be all over the place these days. Anyhow, I enjoyed this one.

I happened to watch one yesterday so I'm in.

1. Certain Women (2016, Kelly Reichardt) : Wendy and Lucy and Meek's Cutoff are masterpieces to me. I liked this one but I didn't care that much for the first two stories. I wish she had made a whole movie about the third story.

I would love to do this but I'm in for three other challenges this month. I may post a few here anyway (just to complicate my life even further - I'm sure there's some part of my brain sitting there unused at any given moment).

Nice to see the activity on this page.

I am visiting family until Tuesday, so I'll update then.

Also, don't forget Women's Day is March 8th. They are playing four films directed by women including Girlfriends and Wanda.

16. The Proposal (Anne Fletcher, 2009) Betty White (l)
17. Pitch Perfect 2 (Elizabeth Banks, 2015)
18. The Holiday (Nancy Meyers, 2006)
19. It's Complicated (Nancy Meyers, 2009)
20. Something's Gotta Give (Nancy Meyers, 2003)

...I'm so not the target audience for these...

After randomly picking titles these first 3 days I'm now doing one official list at a time. Starting with Box Office since those are the easiest to find. (But oh so many rom coms). Upcoming: The Proposal, The Holiday, Me Before You, It's Complicated, Somethings Gotta Give and Pitch Perfect 2

In. I will probably get at least a couple of films watched as there's a film festival in town next week in which half of the films are directed by women.

1. Stories We Tell (Sarah Polley, 2012) 8/10

Is there any awards focusing on female directors?
I found this http://www.imdb.com/event/ev0001984/overview but it's all over the place with who gets the awards and what for. (The negative awards kinda more helpful than the positive once, really)

These also: http://www.imdb.com/event/ev0003081/overview and http://www.imdb.com/event/ev0002887/overview

21. Me Before You (Thea Sharrock, 2016) - This was the third most viewed film on cinemas in Norway last year (behind two norwegian ones). Apparently because of the book was a best-seller too. But yes, more tickets than Marvel, Star Wars and all that other kahuna.
22. Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (Mandie Fletcher, 2016)
23. Take This Waltz (Sarah Polley, 2011)

3. Sameblod / Sami Blood (Amanda Kernell, 2016) 8/10

Very strong new film about the 1930s racism in Scandinavia against the Sami people. Lene Cecilia Sparrok is very convincing in the lead role, but best of all is how tightly directed this film is.
