Finally, these are the results for the 1981 poll.

Total number of voters: 63 (57 ranked, 3, unranked, 3 partially ranked)
Total number of films receiving votes: 258

I noticed there are those who missed the poll because of the noon ET deadline. I originally planned to tabulate the results last weekend, but something personal came up that needed my attention, which also the reason why the delay in posting the results. My apology to those who wanted to participate but missed the deadline, and for not post a "last call" for post which I usually do when I do a poll. Hope that if I do get to do a poll again, there will be a smoother cut off time.

The minimum # of points required to be listed is 20 and the # of votes is 3.

Tie breaker is # of mention follow by the film has higher ranked.

Thanks for compiling. No real surprise at the top there, but I doubt Muddy River would have scored as high back on IMDb.

For the record, I had a ranked #1 (the rest unranked), which I don't see listed among the first place votes.

Thanks for the interesting results, Rufus. Fun to see where things end up. I rather like some of your innovations with the presentation! Cool to peruse the various breakdowns.

Good to to see 'Mephisto' place in the top ten. A masterful, utterly riveting, and deeply haunting masterpiece. Perhaps it should have been my number one but I did so like Ideya Garanina's mesmerising animation and I did see it just last month so it was wonderfully fresh in my thoughts when it came to this poll!

Thanks a lot and I do hope my comments last weekend in commiseration with jd didn't come across as any kind of criticism or anything like that.

A nice turn-out and I can't wait for the next one in this wonderful series!

Thanks much! This poll, more than the others done here so far, really shows the difference between the IMDb Classics Board voters and the ICM voters; while Das Boot might have won on the CFB, I wouldn't have counted on it - it was very rare that a non-English-language film won - and in any case I don't see it beating Raiders by such a margin. Also a Bond film not making the cut at all? Unheard of on the CFB, even when it was a less-beloved one. I also can't imagine Doro no kawa making even the top 20-30 let alone top 10.

For myself I'm quite pleased that Le pont du Nord did so well; being widely available now certainly helps. And Mur Murs, which was definitely the highlight among the films I watched for the poll by a good margin. Really quite a year for horror, would have liked to have gotten to more myself.

Thanks for the above-and-beyond work on making the results interesting.

Thank you to Rufus-T for running this poll.

I will probably wait about a week before starting the 2005 poll, to give people time to catch up with the other ongoing polls and see a few more movies.

A very eclectic top 100. I've been wanting to see Muddy River / Doro no kawa since it played at the 1982 San Francisco International, but have never been able to find a subtitled version (any ideas?).

Only a handful of my top 20 made the top 20 here, but I can accept Das Boot at the top, though I was more impressed by the story and performances in Mephisto (Pt.1 of a great war trilogy by Istfan Szabo).

Most of the films I saw and liked most from 1981 (back in my early 20's) have paled somewhat in reflection and revisitation, but I look forward to finding a few gems from this list to revitalise my own.

Thanks for sharing

@RogerTheMovieManiac88: Thanks for the nice words. Your comment did not bother me, so no need to worry about it.

@PeacefulAnarchy: Thanks for the cool stills. I wanted to see Possession and Doro no kawa.

@OldAle1: I agreed. No James Bond, and the low ranking of a Disney animation would have been a phenomenon if this poll was conducted back at CFB. CFB would more than likely be picking Raiders over Das Boot.

@gromit82: Sounds good!

I'm surprised at the terrible showing for Chariots of Fire, just scraping onto the list, behind even History of the World Part 1. On the CFB I'd expect it to be top 10 or 20. Presumably it's not a resistance to prestige Oscar pics, as Reds is in the top 20, or to British period drama, as even Brideshead Revisited is in the top 50, a good placing for a TV series.
