Damn it! Y'all are making me look bad getting these threads up early.

I'm in, and this will be my focus. It's a good excuse to finally get through the rest of those "on 20+ lists" films.

Ill do a few, probably only the French or '70s movies in the top 200 or so at best though since I dont have much motivation for movie watching nowadays which is 10-15 movies

I have exactly one unseen movie remaining on this list. I will watch it in April, as it happens to be that new JLG entry.

OK, so you decided against TSP21 - guess we can catch that in August.

I'm in but prolly won't work very hard.

yeah I had two branched lines of thinking, it's the TSPDT challenge so that means either 1. just TSPDT proper (and since the top 2000 are now ranked I included the 2nd half of the list and because the mods have said it'll be official eventually) or 2. everything the website TSPDT has done that is an official list which is TSDPT, 21st, Noir, Blues, Brief Encounters. That's a ton of lists and I thought picking some and excluding others seemed arbitrary and there are challenges in the future for the more substantial of the lists anyway.

My own personal goals for the challenge are:

Pie in the sky, 70 films watched to get me to 700/1001.
More reasonable, 20 to get me to 650/1001 and the top 200 completed (16). Not necessarily overlapping.

Fair enough, but I'll prolly depend more on rewatches than I would have otherwise.

I'll watch some from that almost official list. I'm happy about the exclusion of Noirs,Blues and 21st Century. This saves me a lot of time deciding which movie to watch next

Well, that's disappointing. :( As mentioned on the other thread, I was really looking forward to working more on the 21st Century List which, at less than 42% seen, has dozens of films on it that I have been meaning to make time for.

The difficulty for me is that I've seen over half the films on both eligible lists, and between unavailable films and shorts, probably another couple of hundred films could be knocked off, which leaves me with (I'm guessing) around 800 or so films to choose from in my blind, which is a pretty limited selection. I will, however, certainly still participate here. Just not as actively as I might have otherwise have done. I suppose though that I could down the road of 3eyes and use this as an opportunity to revisit all those acclaimed classics that I haven't seen in any ages. I also really need to look at the 1001-2000 list in more depth. I'm less familiar with the titles there, so there's probably a bunch of stuff there that I would like to see and which I'm not aware is actually on the list.

Anyway, thanks for hosting. Sorry for the whining and moaning. I mean, I totally understand your logic - it does make sense - I just feel a little bit like the old IMDb message boards sigh icon right now. -_-

The plan is to complete the TSPDT list this month. 45 movies to go, should be doable, but it is a reasonably busy month for me, so let's see.

There is a challenge dedicated to the 21st Century in August :)

Yeah, I know, but I don't know if I can put off seeing Darren Aronofsky's mother! until August (I've already had it unwatched on DVD for a couple of months) and The Killing of a Sacred Deer comes out on DVD in April too. :ermm:

I'll give it a go. I'm horrible at entering challenges, watching films from said challenge, and not posting. So, whether or not I actually post here again doesn't mean I haven't watched films from it.

Just postpone that gratification until August when there is an official 1990 and 21st Century challenge!

Edit: I see someone already point this out...

I would have prefered working on TSPDT21 but I'm still in.
Currently at 997/1001 on TSPDT and 727/999 on TSPDT 1001-2000.

I finished the list 2 years ago, when the same challenge was running. Gained some unchecked titles with the last 2 updates.

Before the challenge starts I’m at...

TSPDT 1-1001: 762/1001. Rank: #354
TSPDT 1001-2000: 434/999

So no chance of any new medals, but I hope my rank will improve some.

That was exactly my reaction when I first saw it. And I normally love Eastwood. I just don't know why anyone felt the need to do a Shane remake.
