It was nominated for two Oscars (best art/set decoration and best costume design-color), so it should count regardless! :)

I've only seen 30-45 minutes of it, but on that basis, I'd definitely agree!

I'm pretty sure I downloaded a copy of Cavalcade some months ago, before my movie drive crashed. I never watched it, though, so I don't know if it was kosher or not.

I just went to look; I think it was this one: http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/335969813/cavalcade+1933?tab=summary

Also, I'm In for the challenge!

I had an external drive that crashed about two years ago. I keep an excel file of everything that's on the hard drive, so if something seems to be missing, I just go back to the sheet and then I'm like, oh darn, it's on the one that crashed!! :(

I got lucky, Cavalcade was on Fox Movie Channel a few years ago, wouldn't surprise me if they still show it here and there.

It's also boring as hell, too.

Count me in as well - I have found 92 films from the 1930's that have all been nominated/won an oscar that are on at least 1 official list that I haven't seen yet.

That should keep me busy doing both official challenges in February.

Of course there are plenty of films from the 1930's nominated for an oscar that are not on any official lists but for reasons of only wanting to watch official checks, I will leave them for now.

And for those here in the U.S. that have Turner Classic Movies, remember every movie for the next 31 days either won or was nominated for an Oscar so it should be easy to find a lot of movies to watch.

Not all are checks and everyone has probably seen a lot of these. But yes, they have some great picks for February nonetheless.

Some I am watching (listed on my TCM Viewing Schedule):

Do they need to be checks for this challenge? I thought this was for any movie nominated or won which means every movie anyone hasn't seen on TCM this month would count towards this challenge.

Edit: Plus they'd count towards the unofficial check challenge which means you'd be getting two challenges done at the same time, TCM is gonna be helping people out big time in February.

Right they don't need to be checks. But I'm focusing on the ones that are. ;) I have plenty of other non-check material to watch too. :)

I found 37 checks on TCM for me, assuming I can watch them all, and my job doesn't interfere. Naturally I have a 4 day trip the second week of February that cuts into my TCM viewing, but I intend to take DVDs with me. I don't have a DVR, so I will have to miss those overnighters. Up for any suggestions for any standalone DVRs that work with a cable box and don't require a subscription.

Having a DVR typically costs $5 a month. If you think of all the movies you'd miss otherwise (and the cost of renting those films) or the sleep you'd miss from staying up, $5 a month is actually pretty cheap. There might be a $75-80 cost upfront though.

My local Blockbuster is going out of business, can pick up a TiVo for 20 bucks, maybe I will look into it.
