I'll participate.

I added a link to the Korean Film Archive's Youtube channel. Maybe someone wants to add a list of films on the Youtube channel to iCM (if no one else wants to add it then I might add it).

That Youtube channel is a treasure trove of official checks! Thanks, I had no idea it existed... I'll see if I can't make it a list on iCM.

Thanks, but you missed a few films (I knew you were missing films because 63 + 4 != 70).

Evergreen Tree (1961) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390454/

Prince Yeonsan (1961) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0389547/

The Midnight Sun (1972) - I can't find this one on IMDb.

Oh, right! I had to import Evergreen Tree into iCM, but I still couldn't find it when searching for it on the list editing page and then I forgot about it. I know I found Prince Yeonsan, but I must've forgotten to add it to the list. I never noticed "Midnight Sun" I must've missed that one entirely.

It took forever to make the list, having to cross-reference the "English" titles provided on the Youtube channel with (usually different) IMDb titles. It wasn't until I came across "KMDb" (Korean MDb) that I could figure out some of the more obscure titles ("Hyperbolae of Youth" is called "Chongchun ssanggogseon" on IMDb, kinda hard to figure out if you don't know Korean..).

I saw "Why has Boddhi-Dharma Left for the East?" a couple of weeks ago. It was the last list I didn't have any checks on.

Btw, the Korean Film Archives' Youtube Channel listed above has lots of movies that are on the 100 Korean list.

03. Eunmyeongui son (The Hand of Destiny) (1954) 7/10

This one is also on the YouTube channel. It starts really slow and I became a bit bored to be honest but it really picks up in the last twenty minutes. Sort of like a Korean Noir.

1. Friend (Kwak, 2001).
2. The President's Last Bang (Im, 2005).

I was very entertained by these two movies, but I think I'm partial to Korean action dramas and action comedies. I generally like Korean movies and think their cinema is of a high quality (especially these years, where it beats anything out of Hollywood).

1. Going by the Book / Bareuge salja (2007) 8/10 Crime comedy.

The new police chief selects an officer to play bank robber in a robbery prevention training exercise. The chief wants to assure the public his team is efficient at stopping bank robberies but the officer he picked is just as intent on being the best bank robber he can be. This was very entertaining and one I liked enough to own. I highly recommend.

3. Tae Guk Gi - The Brotherhood of War (Kang, 2004). Blech. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that was simultaneously this sappy and this brutal. Think "Saving Private Ryan"-squared brutal, with 2 "heroes" who walk through battle like Rambo, while everyone around them gets blown to bits (often literally). Unfortunately, the movie is unbearably melodramatic and I just wanted it to be over. I can see why people like it (the battle scenes are generally very real looking), but the whole "Rambo"-element and the schmaltz just ruins the movie for me.

Well, the battle scenes are incredible (and the cinematography is top notch), but I didn't like the rest of the movie.

02. A Dirty Carnival (2005) : Solid crime drama. An impending tragedy seems to be always around the corner though ,but the plot keeps you engaged. ....8/10

03. Secret Reunion (2010): Starts of as a spy thriller , but quickly changes course becoming more of a tale on friendship. i like the two leading guys , so enjoyed it. Not a believable scenario but makes for entertaining fiction...7.5/10

04. My Mighty Princess (2008) : Comedy/Action/Fantasy /Romance..........They really know how to mix up the genres.........6.5/10

Here are 4 Korean lists, and I've bolded the films that are available on KOFA's Youtube channel. Click the films to get to the iCM pages, and the Youtube links are in the comments. KOFA's 100 Korean Films is a chronological list, and the other 3 lists are ranked.

KOFA's 100 Korean Films (1936-1996) (2006)

The Chosun Ilbo's Top 50 Korean Films (1998)

FILM2.0's Top 37 Korean Films (2002)

FILM2.0's 100 Korean Masterpieces (2008)
