Goal:
YES, it's almost time for the most awesome time of the year! Watch as many movies as you can that fit into the horror genre. If you are in doubt whether a movie counts or not, just ask.

Rules:
- A feature film (Anything over 45 minutes) counts as one entry
- A total of 90 minutes of short films count as one entry
- For Mini-Series (45 minute episodes or longer) each episode counts as an entry.
- For Mini-Series with shorter episodes (25 minutes or so), the 90 minute rule applies.
- Rewatches allowed.

Challenge runs from 1 October 2012 - 31 October 2012.

I am obviously in and plan on crushing my total from last year, aiming to get well over 200 this time.

I just wish IT WOULD BE OCTOBER 1ST ALREADY, the next 9 days is going to be torture.

Yeah, as long as it's a horror film (not every film on Deuce is horror). The lists I included are just ones that are primarily horror based.

Cinematiamo got to 203 last year, I got to 175 :( I'm aiming for 250 this year, but it depends on work and stuff.

And the next 9 days will indeed be torture, I keep looking lovingly at my spreadsheet plan and wanting to watch them all NOW.

We went once when I was about 9 and only a few houses on the block had anything to give us. We saw nobody else trick or treating either. Most years we'd have one trick or treater turn up, now it's rare to get even one. The closest we get to celebrating it is that they generally chuck a Nightmare on Elm Street marathon or something on TV.

Yeah
I don't think all of those (e.g. Son of Godzilla) count as horror. Going by IMDb's definition of horror is probably a good idea.

I didn't look at all the sequels :P Generally, Godzilla films seem to be considered horror, but if the sequels are all really different then checking IMDb or asking about individual films would probably be better.

On a second thought, Godzilla's son does look quite horrifying:

I will take part, concentrating on remaining few Horrors not seen on ICM Board Favourite list plus mainly early films including 1940s on the Top 500 Horror Films list. I have only seen 196 so still well short of Bronze which I hope to reach one day.

I would say any Godzilla film counts but most of these challenges I've done are pretty far reaching when it comes to genre stuff, a lot of them even included Sci-Fi and Thrillers.

Edit: and another great list is this: http://www.rue-morgue.com/extras/100-alternative-horror-films

Not sure if someone as made it on ICM though but I'd be surprised if they haven't.

During the Grindhouse Challenge (Most of Grindhouse being Sex, Violence and Horror) I got really depressed when I hit 25movies from watching way too much horror. I have no idea how'll you'll manage 200!

I had this idea of tracking down all the major adaptations of Jekyll & Hyde and watch at least a couple of them in October. I have seen the 1931 film and Hammer's Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971) and on my watchlist there are:

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920)
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941)
The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960)

Then there's also the BBC 6-part series Jekyll (2007) starring James Nesbitt. Has anyone seen it? Apparently it was well-received.

Also, are there some other adaptations that I should watch?

Apparently the book by Robert Louis Stevenson, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was written when he was staying in Bournemouth, there is a road named after the author in Westbourne a suburb of Bournemouth, not far from me.

Robert Louis Stevenson lived in the house called Skerryvore, Alum Chine Road - sadly destroyed during an air raid in 1940. The site was laid out as a garden to his memory. During his two and a half years here he wrote “Kidnapped”, “A Child’s Garden of Verse”, and “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”.
