This is my very ambitious watchlist: http://www.imdb.com/list/AJgM-k55jK0/ (5 of those are rewatches; Day of the Dead, Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness and Stalled). I'll be happy with 50, tbh but if I can get all those watched I will jizz in my pants.

Death Ship (1980) oddly I found that movie very entertaining, also love Curtains (1983)
I am in for this challenge also!

I always watch a few horror films in October, and I have a long-term goal (emphasis on long) of getting a Bronze on the 500 Cult Movies list.

...So I'm in, though I'll probably only watch 10 or so.

I'm going to 2 all-nighters at the cinema (12 new checks), and I want to get a silver on the Top 500 Horror (12 checks needed). I'll be busy this month, so my goal will be 40 overall.

Had a lot on my plate recently so going to try get back into watching films. If I end up moving house during October though then probably won't reach my target of 100 but need to get some checks under my belt as been lacking in them recently. The 1st being a Tuesday will mean its a bit of a slow start for me but we shall see!

I'm in. I'll probably watch around 5-10 this year. If anyone has suggestions for me, let me know. What are the most important horror films that I really need to watch in order to be knowledgeable about the genre? Please don't give me a long list, just 2 or 3, and I'll try to watch them if I have time.

Here's my progress on the iCM Forum's list in case that makes it easier to give suggestions:

It's hard to just pick 2-3 since you're missing hundreds :whistling: The fact that you haven't seen Dawn of the Dead is disgraceful. Get to that. ARGH. Um, An American Werewolf in London and Scream. Give you a mix.

I would choose classics though

Dracula 1931
Dawn of the Dead 1978
The Wicker Man 1973

I am not a big Horror fan but do have a Bronze for the 500 Horror list now.

I was trying to choose important films as well as ones I love :P

It's hard to pick because lots of things that I don't like were pretty important and Texas Chainsaw was obviously one of the most influential films for slashers (but it sucks balls), pre-50s is a worse and more repetitive period than the 80s slasher period (which at least are entertaining and 'show, not tell'). Then there's ones that are important just to me and feel like everyone should've have seen then anyway :P TOO MANY VARIABLES.

 except this -there are some classics from the 1930s that are iconic and important to the history of films and Horror such as the Frankenstein and Dracula films.

Yes I know, I just don't like most of them :P Once you've seen one Frankenstein or Dracula or Wolf Man; you've seen them all.

The Man Who Laughs 1928 is great but is it really a horror film ? - if it is not I choose Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) as an alternative early Horror classic
