ha. I also checked out that overlap. Not as many as I thought there would be. I might watch Shoah as part of the Clean-up challenge. I've had the Bluray on my shelf for a year.

01. Brother's Keeper (1992) - 5/10

Seems like this should have gripped me a little bit more. Ostensibly a documentary about a man that allegedly murdered his brother either as a mercy killing or because of some weird sex goings-on should be compelling. But man, there were some terribly dull stretches. Not bad, but I don't see the greatness in this film that others do.

02. Dogtown and Z-Boys (2001) - 7/10

Ooh, I liked this one. I'm not into skate or surf culture, but this was some pretty interesting stuff. Always fun to see the origins of things and the creativity contained therein.

1. Delamu (2004)

Interesting documentary about the Tea Road in Tibet, and the people there living in isolation.

I'll join in as well

01 - The War, by Ken Burns (Part 1/14) 7/10

A good start, but it will obviously take time to get at the bottom of things. The WW2 pictures are quite impressive and well used.

1. Monarchy episode 102 I don't like re-enactments as a general rule but there's so much going on that I have literally no knowledge of that I mostly focus on just keeping up with the information. The dull shots of some dude in raggedy clothes and an unkempt beard just give me time to process the hundreds of years of lepidoptery going on. Also, the host has such a strange, stilted delivery it makes Jeremy Clarkson's "...in the world" bit seem almost natural.

but seriously stop asking me questions about what's going to happen I don't know nothin! You're the host dude! Just tell me if Cnut comes all back up in Aethelred's business all murderin everybody bein all Viking it up and stealing his wife and shit. Oh, will Harold have a problem with William thinking he's the king after Edmund kicked the bucket and him on his deathbed being all "I've made a huge mistake"? I dunno, probably, why else would you be asking me?

2. The Pervert's Guide to Ideology (2012) Very interesting film in how it presents Zizek's concept of ideology using clips of films as examples (with Zizek placing himself into certain scenes from the films he's discussing). It only makes sense that if you're going to be using films as examples to be able to show these examples, instead of just writing about them. You don't have to agree with what he's saying to get a kick out of the construct of it all.

Oh and I'm just finding out that this is a sequel.

1. This is Spinal Tap (1984). 7/10.

Decent mockumentary parodying rock groups from the early 60's, late 60's, 70's aningd 80's. The film has it's funny moments but overall, is nothing great, imo.

1. Jodorowsky's Dune (Pavich, 2013)
really enjoyable doc about the almost-made 70s version of Dune. worth watching even if you don't like Jodorowsky's films. man, it would've been some film :pinch: the doc has a great synth soundtrack too.
