It's time to make out favourite actors and actresses list again. Submit an imdb list, or a list of imdb urls if you can't make an imdb list, with as many actors/actresses as you like. You have until Sunday February 1st to submit your lists.

We'll use the same scoring system as in the director's poll.

Since PeacefulAnarachy has offered to compile the results I assume you can submit lists in the same way as in the director's poll as well:
Your list is counted as ranked unless you specify otherwise.
Other than a ranked list you can submit your list in one of the following ways:
- Unranked: All actors/actresses get the same number of points.
- Partially ranked: Top X is ranked, rest is unranked
- Group ranked: You have to specify the groups that go together, all actors/actresses in the group get the same number of points. (eg: 11-20, 21-30, 31-50, 51-100)

Previous Top 100 actors/actresses list: 2012

This poll runs concurrently with the favorite performances poll from mjf314.

Since people are more likely to already have favorite actor/actresses lists I think it's OK to have the deadline for this one 1 week earlier, so we can hopefully post the results just before the deadline for the other poll.

Would be interesting to see if and how these two list are going to be different from each other.

Pfff... This is tough. I just started with selecting the actors/actresses of whom I've seen at least 10 movies, but that way mostly mainstream actors/actresses remained. So I guess I need to lower the threshold a bit, but then the list of names is getting huge. Well, that's the only way for me to be sure I won't forget tons of names, so I guess I'll do it like that.

Won't participate in the performances poll. I'm getting a headache already from thinking about it.

I somehow would like to participate, but as I don't keep lists about actors and as there is no nice IMDB export for actors in films this seems like a too frustrating task for me. :(

You could import your Imdb movies in criticker. You can see actor lists there.

Based on acting, screen presence, coolness, badassness, whether they can make me laugh, or for purely heterosexual reasons.

Yeah, no. I don't think I could whip up a list that'd satisfy myself without tremendous work.
Also, I'm no actors' man when it comes to cinema, and acting in general is one of the lesser things I consider important in films most of the time.

Not really an actor's man myself either, though like everyone else I have a few favorites.

http://www.imdb.com/list/ls073242760/ (ranked, as always)

For the fans: clearly he's not the world's greatest actor, but I added Yoshiyuki Morishita to my list anyway. Whenever I see him pop up in a film, no matter how small his part (and they usually are quite small), the guy makes me smile. And that's worth something.

That's as good a reason as any. Besides you've got Tadanobu Asano at #1.

Apparently I've seen 10 of his films, but I don't remember any of his performances well enough to say if I liked them. Did he have a major role in any films?

I think his biggest part was in Survive Style 5+

If you've seen him, you won't soon forget this guy. He is one ugly guy (which is how people often refer to him), his trademark smile with all his teeth bared doesn't really make it better either :D He's never cool, he's always the nerd or loser, but he's been at it for a long time and he has appeared in quite some respected films so far. I would love to read an interview with him someday, would love to hear how he copes with his obvious typecasting. Anyway, whenever I see him I yell Ugly Guy! and start smiling immediately, so that's good :)

Yea, now if he would only stay away from Hollywood and take up some cool roles back home. Latest I heard he's doing a film with Scorsese (as Ken 'we need a Japanese guy' Watanabe declined). That's my favorite actor and least favorite director in one film ... I'm a little worried about that.

I don't rate movies on IMDb, but I do have an IMDb list of everything I've seen. Is it possible to import the list to Criticker? If not, is there any other way for me to get a list of what I've seen from each actor?

Only as a child. Of her adult work* I've only seen 'Tesis', which was long before I've seen her child performances, and I don't remember it well enough to say anything about her performance in it, plus I've only seen it dubbed.

But for the purpose of this list let's just say I mean Ana Torrent in her entirety.

*Films she did as an adult, perv.

It's fun and full of surprised going through an actor's list sorted by number of movies seen. I stumble upon names with 15+ titles seen, that I don't even know by name. I look at a picture and think "I vaguely remember that face", but I can't recall a single performance. On the other hand some really well known actors have 10 or less checks from me. Apparently I've only seen 11 films with Ingrid Bergman. I would have guessed around 20.

So just for fun. Post your top 10 actors with most movies seen. Here's mine:

Georges Méliès (79)
Samuel L. Jackson (68)
Buster Keaton (48)
Charles Chaplin (43)
Robert De Niro (41)
Brad Pitt (40)
Mel Blanc (38)
Bruce Willis (36)
Morgan Freeman (34)
Matt Damon (31)

I think so, too. Apparently this consulting producer of one listed film with no votes is now more popular than the actress Louise Brooks. It's like when I searched for James Dean and the first person IMDb gives me is the porn actor James Deen, followed by James Dean (XXVIII), whose only credit is sculptor for 'Prometheus'.

I don't know how else to get it, but from Criticker it's very easy.

I use that option to select actors for this poll. I selected all actor with at least 7 movies seen, which was exactly 750 actors. I went through the first 300 so far and kept 100 of them and removed 200. Will be a hell of a job ranking them.

Unfortunately, Criticker is far from complete and it's a bit of work to add movies to the database. I wish it was as easy as adding a movie to ICM.

According to Criticker I've seen 10 movies with Robert Harron, but I've rated 27 titles starring him on IMDB. This guy starred in 220 movies during 14 years. Of course, mostly shorts, but still incredible.

...

I guess the problem with Criticker is that it doesn't list all actors for a movie, but only a few (most important ones?).
