Susan Hayward and Ann Sheridan eh? Don't think I can join this year, but I'll definitely look into this thread to see if Local won't be a cheating scumbag like he was 2 years ago.

In, but not for much. I've got other plans and too much noir tends to make them all blur together for me.

Hell yeah! I'm in.

For future reference, is there a consensus definition as to what is classified as a noir? That way I'm not watching movies for the challenge that don't count.

No, unfortunately, but the challenge includes Neo-noir so some of the edge cases are included in the challenge anyway. I'd say if a film isn't on any of those lists in the OP then it would only count if it's really obscure, at least for noir. Neo-noir is more nebulous.

And besides, those of us in the US (anyhow) have to delay our watching for an hour because of the time change.

You can start watching at 0:00 hours.

The time change actually gives you an extra hour to watch !

01. Die Moerder Sind Unter Uns (1946) (Wolfgang Staudte)
The first film to be made in Germany after World War II. Shot right in the ruins of post-war Berlin. It starts out as a romantic drama which doesn't really work but the message it delivers about war criminals is powerful.

02. Es Geschah am Hellichten Tag (1958) (Ladislao Vajda)
Based on the same book as The Pledge with Jack Nicholson (Das Versprechen). Haven't seen that one but I'm pretty sure this one is superior. Tension build-up is good. Especially once Frobe's character appears on screen.

I will finally complete the 250 Noir list this year.
That's always my intention, and I'm just 55 titles away, but I find more that I want to see on More Noirs from TSPDT.

1. Three Strangers (1946)
Slated to be a sequel to The Maltese Falcon, with Greenstreet and Lorre, Warner Brothers couldn't get the rights to the characters, so redid the story to be about the titular three strangers, who meet to fulfill the prophecy of luck from an ancient Chinese statue. Stories interweave and the outcome is O. Henry-esque. Lorre shines. With Geraldine Fitzgerald as the third stranger who sets everything in motion.
2. Lured (1947)
Before he turned to women's pictures, Douglas Sirk directed this serial killer thriller. Lucille Ball and Boris Karloff in the same movie you say? It doesn't detract from this tale of a plucky young American dancer helping Scotland Yard track down the killer, whom she falls in love with - or does she? With George Sanders, Sir Cedric Hardwicke and Charles Coburn.

Bonus trivia - Both movies co-star Alan Napier, best known as Alfred on the 60s TV show Batman

Always been my intention, too, and I have 47 left, but what keeps me from rushing through the rest of them is the desire to savor what's left. I know that even watching two noirs back to back can mean that months later they blend into one in my memory. This is why I'm happy to join this challenge, but I don't want to push it too far.

Last year it was my intention but I wasn't able to do it for various reasons. This year it will happen because I only have 10 left and I'm in movie devouring mode.
