If I looked through what films imdb considers horror I probably would have removed Desperate Living. But hey, better than the tons of crap that will show up soon.

I'd love to have one of our polls without these weird choices ffs...

Off topic but forget to mention that Love was actually pretty good. Great cinematography, and THAT SOUNDTRACK: Bach, Satie, Eno, Funkadelic and Salem. The bad acting didn't bother me too much cause well, a big improvement after Enter the Void. You can look past the sex scenes too, although the threesome was way too long and boring.

That cumshot though... I'm happy that they did it for a 3d movie, but that was stupid as hell. I probably would have laughed my ass off if I saw that in theatres and in 3d.

That threesome was a very hard moment for me :whistling:

You left out the best part of the soundtrack, John Carpenter.

Gaspar Noé's dad hated the cumshot. I laughed my ass off.

Irréversible has a violent scene and a rape scene, but after that it turns into a Rohmer/Love story with gorgeous music and cinematography.

Rabid Dogs is a sleazy exploitation horror flick from start to finish, and I mean that as a compliment, because I voted for it.

Isn't the violence in Irréversible like two thirds of the film? At least that's what stands out, it's been a long time. It's not just the violence that makes it horror, but the way it's shot and edited. The love story, in context, serves to further the horror.

They're two very different films, but in terms of their horror aspect they both bring rabid destruction into normalcy and fill the audience with discomfort.

In this type of genre poll I wonder if some films have low rankings not because of their quality but because of that not many people count them as horror films.

It's not even close to 'borderline', it's one of the scariest movies ever made. I first watched it with a friend who became visibly shaken and walked out of the room. Reports indicate this was common. No one ever got this scared by the campy violence in a Freddy Krueger movie.
